Well, I recently had Brian do up a paint job for me.

But I figured I'm not gunna learn anything by having others do it for me, so maybe I should start and do one myself!

So, I took some suggestions to buy Automotive paint (Gee is that stuff EXPENSIVE!) and now I've put on a few coats...

I forgot to take some pics of the white unpainted body so I stole some from a website so you could see what it looks like outta the box.

I've now put on three coats of the Yellow.

As you can see, I've got a Metallic Black awaiting to be sprayed into some racing stripes and possibly some other bits and pieces.

I have a clear coat as well to hopefully protect it a bit.

I'll put a few coats of the clear on and let it sit for a while to cure.

I think it's gunna look pretty good!

I bought this body as I had purchased an Austin Martin & I was worried that I'd mess it up so, I figured I'd play and see where it takes me.

I may just leave it on for our next race instead and use the Austin Martin for my next body. =)

Anyhoo...

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll have some time on Saturday night to mask it up and paint it on Sunday.

Ugh, SO much to do, and so little time to do it in!
Does anyone else have that same problem?

Well, apparently I'm not much of a shutter bug as I've left this post hanging for quite a while.

Life has kept me MORE than busy these days!

But I think the body is pretty much all finished up!
I put a few coats of yellow & clear on it and glued up the window & body mounts.

Lemme know what you think.

Gotta love the whole bee-esk, black and yellow theme I got going on...

Heck, I even picked up a black & yellow power bar and a yellow with black ends extension cord for this weekend. =)

That'll teach me to not bother re-enforcing my new bodies!

I'll be re-enforcing ALL my bodies as best as I can from now on!!!

YA! Yer telling me!!!

It took me close to 4 days to paint that sucker.
With all the flies jumping on it after every freakin' coat.
I swear the paint is an aphrodisiac to them or something!

Then the masking and the painting and the painting...
Oi.

Oh well...

I'll come up with some way to try and reinforce it so it doesn't happen again.
Good ol' Show Goo & Plastic! =)

shoo goo is great stuff..i used to paint alot of 1/24-1/12th scale models and i know how painstaking it can be to do a primo job without some dust/hair/bug getting into the mix..lol i used to polish them with micro mesh polishing kits..start with 3200 grit and go up to 20,000 grit..paint would look like glass..but alot of work and if you sanded through a corner..doh..stip it and start over
